Final tank design ( I hope )

New modular, ergonomic, DIY float tank.

When door (s) are open you can stand up inside tank. Front door bottom ledge is a full width seat.

Will be sprayed inside and out with 2 Part Raptor bedliner AND have a pond liner in tank bottom as well.

Rough estimated cost of tank only is about $600.

Designed to be a modular build with top panel being able to be removed for full access cleaning. Pump and filter system are inside containment tray that empties back into tank while electrical panel sets high for easy access and above water dangers. Double GFI adds additional safety as does operating with power off during floats.

My design. For rest tank.

1/6 scale model I built of my design for a float pod. The tall front and long doors allows user to step in and out of tank without crawling. Tall portion will also be used as a steam sauna and height makes anyone who worries about claustrophobic tendencies to feel at ease.

DIY float tank

My design and scale model for float tank continues to evolve and manifest.

Homemade PVC Camera mount

Upright legs rotate 180 degrees to be used from top, bottom, or side. Wing nuts ensure the legs are secure and adjustable. PVC section under edge of zoom lens supports the lens while standard camera mount supports the camera.

So where should I go...

So where should I go,
to the left where nothing is right,
or to the right where nothing is left?

Not twins !!!

But don't they look alike ?

Of course photos of each are at same age. JB is such a mature looking boy now. And quite the big brother already!

James Bryant on left, Hunter Thomas on right.

Proud grandpa I am (as Today might say)

Designing my own tank...

I know I don't need a 3rd float tank, but I think that I have a winning design that home builders can accomplish.

To prove the concept I'm building a 1:6  scale model and will post pictures as I go along. It seems like a super fun design and engineering project so I'm gonna at least have fun with it.

Here's the first post .

Only 24" wide and 12" deep...

But even just 1 side holds a ton of stuff and tool boards can be moved around at will. And attached at top to beam with 2 screws and sitting on floor tightly with adjustable feet , it is secure and firmly in place. But I could remove it entirely in a few minutes.

And then the other side is same for twice the storage. I'm making 3 units to use as a fully functional room divider. It'll look better as time goes by.

Hunter Thomas Driver ..... A healthy family is a true blessing !

James and Cassi are so blessed... As is the whole family.

Hunter Thomas Driver

Isn't he adorable like big bro ?

Testing my new lap/bed/table valet

Once done, special holders will clip onto the horizontal rails anywhere I choose. It's made to be very lightweight with the rails being only 1/8" thick since they are strong plywood and won't hold anything even approaching heavy.

It's a little crude, but being a prototype made from scratch wood and a few screws, cost so far is less than $1

Paint may add another dollar :-)

Hopefully it'll be very useful and keep the devices , cords, tv remotes , etc close by and ready to use. Also hope to keep from crushing eyeglasses when I take them off !

I'll also add a power strip and a LED gooseneck reading light.

I'll post pics when it's done.

Further adjustments and enhancements

Legs are now adjustable in both length and angle.

2 sets of legs... 1 set at top, 1 set at bottom.

Phone sets under eyeglasses.

Awww... To be a kid (kitten) again.

Wish I could sleep this sound ! Willie is waiting for us to sleep so he can be rested and full if energy for a game of mousey at 1 am.

Actually I guess he's a teenager at this point... No longer a kitten. Nearing 20 pounds of pounce.

Willie checks out the first try result ...

Of upscaling a wine bottle into a drinking glass. Near perfect on first try in less than 90 seconds.

Hopefully the yield will be good. Top part of bottle will be used as glass shade for LED hanging lights.

More to come as new ideas for upscaling are proven.

Sign letter sample

This is a sample of one of the more complex letters. It's just got a primer gold coat. Finished paint will be much smoother and metallic. The ink pen at left is just for scale and finally, the background here is just cloth bed sheet. Wood won't have any wrinkles :-)

Prince Properties Neighbors,

We would like to thank the following for participating in the sign improvement project that is now in progress:

Jeff and Debbie Kirkpatrick & Family – For their 30 years of unselfish labor and monies mowing, weeding,  planting, painting, etc. the entrance way.

Bill Crowson & Family - for their organizing of this project.

Evan Dawson & family – for time and resources designing the new sign and all the versions Evan did leading up to selection.

Jeff Johnson & Family – for time meeting and brainstorming ideas.

My wife, Tammy Overman for not complaining when I bite off more than I can chew.

All those who voted and gave us feedback to proceed with a design.

Anyone else I failed to mention ( Please remind me to include you! )

We would like to thank the following families for their financial donations to the build fund:

Bill and Brenda Crowson

Jeremey & Candace Jones and Family

Troy and Wendy Haywood and Family

Michael and Tina Bonner and Family

Jeffrey and Angela Johnson and Family

Morgan Rhees and Family

Gary & Tammy Overman

To date $335 has been donated. With excess materials I had in my possession we've only spent $30 for stains and paints.

We've still got to buy large lumber, hardware and landscaping, so please don't think your donations will go to waste.

Overall I think we are in pretty good shape.

We'll still need some strong backs and arms come time to install.

I've got the individual patterns printed to life size , cut, and I'm beginning to cut the raised wooden letters.

Photo's will be posted here as I proceed.

Tank - 1st trial completed tonight

I got in XPOD and did a short float trial. The auxiliary heater has a little trouble evenly heating the tank, but some swim mixing evened it out.

It went excitingly well. The tank feels huge inside and the float level is perfect. It's a weird feeling to float that high above the water even though I'm not a total newbie.

A few kinks to work out, but I'm very happy... And a tad relaxed.

Close to being ready...

Salts melting
Water warming
Needs art curtains hung to hide shop storage and bottom enclosure panels installed.

Pod status

Closer still... Got everything mounted and electrically provisioned. Didn't get to finish plumbing and fill tank yet... Next weekend is my standard answer :-)
Here's a pic of the service cart and pod. It's not rocket science, but man that's a lot of stuff. Ozone, ultraviolet, electrolytic converter, pump, mech filter, heater, heater control, lights, sound.... Whew. Glad I didn't know effort when I first bought tank else I'd chickened out, especially with all the broken bones and all associated pains :-)

But it's nearly there and I need it more than ever !

Finished project ! Jewelers ball vise.

Made from a 16 pound shotput and scrap wood. Weight of ball needs no clamping to be stable but yet can be spun in any direction to any angle.

Has a 2 hot pen digital wax tool mounted to it as well as adjustable hand rests and LED light ring with magnifier.

Tripod stand adjusts up and down is steady.

I think it will be the best solution for my small stuff.

Refurbished ozone injection manifold

Refurbished ozone injection manifold. Nothing ever easy!!!

Those clear (now) lines have to be cut to an very exactly length. Then the Venturi , hose , and fittings all have to be a precise diameter. Then the whole assembly has to be assemblies while doing a twist and turn motion... Repeatedly.

But now the clear tube with allow you clearly to see the ozone bubbles in the manifold before and after mix and control the mix with the valve.

Lastly the tape did have a leak underneath. I replaced that fitting securely and am now confident to put it into the plumbing.

Sensory Deprivation Therapy Pod

Here's the final job... Connect plumbing and wiring on service cart and reapply dressings (wood) on tank. Left to right: power strip, ECO- electro catalytic chlorine salt converter, pump, mechanical filter, digital heater control unit, heater, ultraviolet sterilization unit, ozone generator, ozone injection manifold, power strip with GFI protection. Whew... That's some stuff to do nothing!
