15 pounds of Willie in a 9 pound box

I'll never get it taped shut so I can mail him to Bill in San Diego !

My new engraver's ball station

The red ball is a 16 pound shotput with an engraver's vise head screwed into it. The density, weight, and low center of gravity allow vise to be stable without locking it.

The aluminum T-track mounted to the sides and back allow accessories light the magnifier/light and hand rests to mount wherever one wants.

The side racks holds majority of favored tools.

I think it will serve me well in a very controlled, compact, versatile and organized manner.

Best to send new chain to avoid WWW.

Tank finally in position

The tank is finally in position.. there's room behind it for my storage drawers and room to come through side door garage and then to tank area. Still got a lot clean up to do, but it's chiefly in place

Monday, September 18, 2017

Took the REST tank for a little spin.

Literally .

Got the tank into garage.

But unfortunately it was 180 degrees out to finish work. Actually was able to spin it around, by myself, without opening garage door. Only took about 20 mins of nudging an inch at a time.

I’m celebrating 7 months as a septic shock survivor

I'm celebrating 7 months as a septic shock survivor. September is  Sepsis Awareness Month . I am a blessed man thanks to God's Grace, fantastic care at Vanderbilt Medical Center, and the support and prayers of family, friends, co-workers, Lions, and even strangers who care.

Sepsis kills more than 210,000 Americans each year, equal to the population of Rochester, New York. Sepsis is a bloodstream infection that can start from something as simple as an insect bite or a bladder infection. It kills nearly a third of all people who develop it. Many of those who don't die from it are left with lifelong debilitation.

Psalm 82 - a psalm of Asaph

 1 God presides in the great assembly;
   he renders judgment among the "gods":
 2 "How long will you defend the unjust
   and show partiality to the wicked?
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
   uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
   deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
 5 "The 'gods' know nothing, they understand nothing.
   They walk about in darkness;
   all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
 6 "I said, 'You are "gods";
   you are all sons of the Most High.'
7 But you will die like mere mortals;
   you will fall like every other ruler."
 8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
   for all the nations are your inheritance.

Today's thought (c) 2017 Gary Overman -Free to use if credited

I have come to realize I have no real authority over anything other than my own free will and body.

But... I do have the ability to influence anybody and anything. I can thereby make positive changes beyond myself in that process.

God please grant me fortitude, grace, and guidance to do just that.

Today's thought (c) 2017 Gary Overman -Free to use if credited

Our bodies are islands floating disconnected from the main source....

But our souls are connected to God, everyone, and everything in the universe. This is our divinity.

Our minds fill the gap between the former and later.

We focus on the former and too often  neglect the later because it requires more effort.  But this is where we reap the rewards of the divinity that God gave us in the making of his true image which is not a physical body.

Reason and Passion

 On Reason and Passion
 Kahlil Gibran

Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against your passion and your appetite.

Would that I could be the peacemaker in your soul, that I might turn the discord and the rivalry of your elements into oneness and melody.

But how shall I, unless you yourselves be also the peacemakers, nay, the lovers of all your elements?

Your reason and your passion are the rudder and the sails of your seafaring soul. If either your sails or your rudder be broken, you can but toss and drift, or else be held at a standstill in mid-seas.

For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction.

Therefore let your soul exalt your reason to the height of passion, that it may sing;

And let it direct your passion with reason, that your passion may live through its own daily resurrection, and like the phoenix rise above its own ashes.

I would have you consider your judgment and your appetite even as you would two loved guests in your house.

Surely you would not honour one guest above the other; for he who is more mindful of one loses the love and the faith of both.

Among the hills, when you sit in the cool shade of the white poplars, sharing the peace and serenity of distant fields and meadows -- then let your heart say in silence, "God rests in reason."

And when the storm comes, and the mighty wind shakes the forest, and thunder and lightning proclaim the majesty of the sky -- then let your heart say in awe, "God moves in passion."

And since you are a breath in God's sphere, and a leaf in God's forest, you too should rest in reason and move in passion.

On pain- Gibran

On Pain
 Kahlil Gibran

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.
